Drywall anchors are typically made of plastic or metal or a combination of both to create threading for a screw. Most anchors slide in through a hole and then expand outward so they cannot be taken back out once installed. The anchor is usually threaded so that a screw may be threaded into the anchor to hold something to the drywall.
