Escape hoods are personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to provide respiratory protection in the event of a hazardous chemical or biological event. Escape hoods are typically worn for one of two reasons: to escape from a hazardous area and to provide protection during a hazardous event.
Escape hoods are designed to be lightweight, comfortable, and easy to use. They are usually constructed from a breathable material that is lightweight, durable, and resistant to chemical and biological agents. Escape hoods typically come with an adjustable headband and a face shield to provide a secure fit and protect the eyes and face from hazardous agents. They also typically come with a carbon filter to absorb vaporized chemicals, as well as a chemical cartridge to absorb particulates.
