Designed by renowned Danish architect Jørn Utzon and constructed under some controversy, it was opened in October 1973. The Australian Opera’s production of War and Peace by Prokofiev was its first performance. With over 40 shows a week, locals and tourists can have their fill of art, dance, music and theatre.
